My Pearl Necklace

I was getting ready to go out and reached for my pearl necklace, the one I lent my mum to use as a tiara for her birthday. The clasp is broken. How? I don’t understand how someone who has been somewhat responsible all her life has turned into a teenager.

My mum is playing a dangerous game of mess around and find out. Since she turned 70, home girl has changed her hair 3 times and the other day she was wearing an outfit that if Potiphar’s wife had worn, Joseph would’ve run to her!

Worse than that, her husband is acting like he has a new girlfriend. He keeps breaking out in tongues when he sees her and has propositioned her in the presence of his children more than once. He giggles and holds her hand while watching Yoruba movies. I’m so confused. I’ve known him for decades and he doesn’t watch anything other than the news. What has my mother done to my dad?!

Even worse than that, he says things like I sent the money for the 2 dresses, the ones you saw online. I beg your pardon. Is she now your baby girl, why are you sending her money? Do you know you’re married to her and not dating? It’s been 45 years people!

I’m so concerned, I’ve started watching teen mum in preparation for when my mum calls me crying that she doesn’t know what to do but she wants to keep it. Then I have to talk to my dad and tell him he’s a man now and he has to take responsibility for his actions and get a job because he’s going to have a young family to support. Then I’m going to be supporting my mum during her antenatal classes because her husband can’t take time off work.

My sister is going to have to do the delivery room because I draw the line there.

I may actually have to do Omogo for my mum. I’m so fatigued by parents and their shenanigans. Please pray for me because with those 2 I feel like they’re irresponsible teenagers with access to funds and time to spend.

She can’t even take care of my pearl necklace, how is she going to take care of a baby? I’ve told her she can’t move in with me, she and her baby daddy are going to have to get a place together and figure it out.

I keep telling her, “you’re going to mess around and find out!”

In the meantime, Happy 45th Anniversary folks.
